Ingredients:
☐ 4 Pears (Bosc are good for this recipe)
☐ 750ml of your favourite Red Wine (Non-Alcoholic red wine can be used)
☐ 3 tbsn Sugar Substitute (such as Monk Fruit)
☐ 2 Cinnamon Sticks
☐ 4 Cloves
☐ 2 slices Orange
Method:
- Peel and core the pears, leaving the stalk in-tact. A good way to core the pears is to use a small melon baller at the base to scoop out the centre.
- Pour the red wine into a saucepan big enough for the pears and add sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves and orange slices. Place over a medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Bring to the boil and gently add prepared pears. Turn heat to medium and simmer for 20 minutes, gently turning to ensure all sides absorb the liquid equally.
- Serve with a little of the liquid and a serving of lo-fat custard or a small scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Place a green leaf (a Pear leaf if you can get hold of one) or a clean plastic leaf on top near the stem for aesthetics.
