POOCH FOOD

And not forgetting about the most important member of the family (in some households). My crazy boofhead enjoys his home cooked casseroles, steaks & mousse, as well as home-made biscuits!

POOCH FOOD

Chicken Mousse

I make this for my friends cats as well!

☐ 2 skinless Chicken Breasts

☐ 2 tbsp Dog Yoghurt

  1. Poach Chicken – Place chicken breasts in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to the boil and turn the flame off but leave it sit for at least 20 minutes.
  2. Chop the chicken into about 3 or 4 chunks and place in a food processor with dog yoghurt and blitz until smooth. Spray 6-8 spheres (1/2 domes) silicon moulds, or moulds of your choice, with cooking oil and fill with chicken mix. Leave in the fridge to set (overnight is good).
  3. Serve with Vegetable Rice side & kibble of your dog’s choice.

Vegetable Rice Side for Pooch

☐ Slice and place in your slow cooker:

☐ 2 sliced or grated Zucchini

☐ 2 diced or pureed Sweet Potato or Pumpkin

☐ 2 sliced or grated Carrots

☐ 1 cup Brown Rice

☐ 1 can rinsed Red Kidney Beans

☐ 1 cup Green Beans (fresh or frozen)

☐ 2 diced Apples

☐ 11/2 cans Water (use the can from the kidney beans is good)

Set on low heat for 6-8 hours, stir once or twice and add more water if necessary if you are home.

You can also add supplement powders if your vet has recommended any, such as calcium powder, glucosamine powder for arthritis, etc.

Doggy Bikkies

☐ 1½ cups Wholemeal Plain Flour

☐ 1 cup Plain Flour

☐ ½ cup Powdered Milk

☐ ½ cup Oatmeal/Porridge Oats

☐ ½ cup Peanut Butter

☐ 2 tbsp Wheat Germ

☐ 1 Egg, beaten

☐ 1 cup Water

☐ 1 Egg beaten with 1 tbsp water for the egg wash

Preheat oven to 180oC. Line a sheet-pan or cookie tray with grease-proof paper.

In a bowl, combine the two flours, powdered milk, oats, peanut butter and wheat germ. Mix in the egg and about 1 cup water or enough to form a sticky biscuit dough.

Empty the dough onto a floured board, knead and roll out to about 1cm thick. Dip your chosen cookie cutter (a bone shape is good!) into flour and cut out the dough. Bring the dough together to re-knead and re-roll until you have used all the dough.

Place the cut cookies onto the sheet-pan/cookie tray, brush with egg-wash and place in the oven for 1 hour until firm. Allow to cool.
